Where to Go Riding

Once you have your bike, it’s time to start exploring. Whether you want a leisurely cruise or a bit of a workout, the island has a route for you.

  • Rent a fat-tire bike and explore the beach. The wide tires handle soft ground with ease. Make sure you check a tide chart before you go, because low tide leaves firmer sand to ride on.
  • Pedal past boutiques, restaurants, and coffee shops along Alister Street. The extra-wide sidewalk on SH 361 runs parallel to the highway, making for a smooth, safe ride. 
  • Ride down to the waterfront at Roberts Point Park and watch cruise ships pass through the channel. Be sure to stick around to watch a picturesque sunset.
  • Wildlife lovers can bike to Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture or the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center. Once you arrive, lock your bike up and explore on foot.
  • Cruise out to the Horace Caldwell Pier for ocean views and fresh Gulf Breeze.
